Okay, don’t judge me but I am excited and at the same time, I want to secure the venue for my daughter’s 18th debutant ball in February 2016. Yes, you read it right – 2-0-1-6. I hear the buzz, come on, spit it out!
So, why 1 year in advance? I got asked that a lot since I started the wheel rolling for my daughter’s debut next year when she just turned 17 few weeks ago. Let’s put the “feeling excited” as the primary reason but the secondary reason is as vital as the first – birth month. Did you notice the birth month of my daughter? It is in February. What about February? Well, it’s the Love month and trust me, some venues have been taken as we speak when I inquired just over the weekend.
February is a busy month. It’s the perfect weather in the Philippines. It’s not as rainy as the other months, the weather is breezy and cool and it is the same month as Valentine’s Day. My daughter’s birthday falls on the 15th of February and we will hold her debut ball on the 13th which is a Saturday so everyone will have a chance to rest after the gig. February is also a popular month to get married as it connotes “love” and “romance” being the love month. So there, who can compete with all that?
I began the planning as soon as I came back from leave and that was Feb. 17, few days after her 17th birthday. I jotted the things we need to secure and do so I wouldn’t get lost in the process. It’s very difficult to do this while I am here in Dubai and everything I have to coordinate with are all back home. I know I can entrust some of the task to my relatives but I don’t want to impose. Maybe when we get the venue, that’s when I can start delegating. For now, I am taking the rein in everything.
My daughter and sis-in-law just visited one of the choices for the venue – Fernwood Gardens in Quezon City. I fell in love with the place the moment I saw it in the internet after researching for garden-style venues. We’ve discussed the theme already even before I came back from leave. My daughter is into this Alice in Wonderland and Fernwood Gardens is the perfect place to have that kind of theme. I hope we snag at least one of the rooms/function hall there. Otherwise, I have to check with another venue. The prices of renting the Fernwood Gardens venue is stupendous! It’s very expensive but reading the reviews and feedback from so many people who have had their event held in Fernwood Garden makes it all the more an obvious choice because it’s all worth it. It is the place where some of the big time celebrities in the Philippines held their wedding vows and reception. Check this picture out and see why we are all bent to get a venue confirmed in Fernwood Gardens.

Our second option was Gazebo Royale which is also in Quezon City. It also has several function halls that have access to their beautiful gardens. However, the hall that is big enough to hold 100-200 people has been booked already for February 13, 2016. You see, I’m not the only one excited about this whole thing. Other people also want to secure their venues, be it for their wedding or some important events and I have to do this fast.
Hopefully, we get this one confirmed soon so I can proceed to the other parts of the planning and program. This is it!
