Happy Fri-Yay Brush Lettering Demo

I have been meaning to video myself doing a simple brush lettering to encourage everyone out there who wants to get their hands on lettering, whether for professional means or just to get those creative juice cranking.

I love whimsical stuff. I usually just letter away without putting much emphasis on the “rules” and the anatomy of a typography and the letters. If I do that, I will never be able to do something as free as I want. Although, it pays to know the basics of lettering and typography, and it is also best to know their anatomy so you will understand the different types and styles in letters.

I always draft my lettering. I am not as good as the others out there who can just letter away even without a draft or sketch of what they will hand letter. It is something I want to learn too but for now, I enjoy sketching on a light coloured pencil so I can erase later on. Sometimes, I just leave the marks there when they are not very visible.

So, here is a brief demo of my brush lettering. I decided to write “Happy Fri-Yay” for Happy Friday. I have been sick for a while and the weekend is all I have been longing for, and of course, some therapeutic time with my crafts. I already sped up the video but it took me around 2 minutes to finish the lettering.

What you need:

  • A smooth paper or pad (to protect your brush pens, to prevent “ink” bleeding, and for a smoother flow of the pen’s movement) I recommend Rhodia brand for your paper or pads. It has very smooth surface.
  • Tombow Dual Brush pens or any brush pen (I prefer this brand and the Kuretake Fude pens)
  • A flat surface where you can set your pad and write on (I sometimes use my laptop as a leverage. I know, that’s bad but I am comfortable with the added height it provides, but don’t follow me on this one hahaha)

Enjoy!

My First Attempt To Digitalize My Brush Lettering Art

I must have read tons and tons of resources for how to digitalize your art or hand lettering. I even subscribed to a lot of YouTube channels for the tutorials. The information out there is overwhelming and they seem to look very easy until you try it hands on.

Well, it took me several hours to complete the process few weeks ago. It is a rough digital attempt but I am happy of the outcome. I know there are still plenty of rooms for improvement but they say, you wouldn’t really know something and wouldn’t get accustomed until you do it. More practice and more watching of tutorials to get the tips and tricks and apply them all later on.

This is the brush lettering on my pad.

After digitalizing it using Adobe Illustrator

I just added the flourishes for effect.

I got the quote from the internet. I love it a lot because I know a lot of “gits” around who could use some manners. This is for them, a constant reminder to be respectful.

Well, I am still happy with how the outcome looked like. I even felt I didn’t follow the process correctly. The process is still a bit complex but with more practice, I am pretty sure I will be able to make more of these in the future that I can offer for free download or even sell on my future creative studio. Wish me luck!

Small and Powerful Guitar Amplifier

I didn’t know there are smaller versions of guitar amplifiers in the market until I saw the roland micro cube. I have seen big amplifiers before but this one tops the list of portable, moderately priced amplifier that is perfect for small gigs or practice sessions at home.

It is a small cube, just as the name suggests. It can be carried anywhere you want to as it has a handle. Even young kids who are into music can carry, and have this amp with them when they want to.

I like that it is small too. Another great feature of this amp is that the MICRO CUBE GX works on batteries (LR6 (AA) type x 6) or an AC adapter.

Features:

Power: 3W
Ultra-compact portable DSP guitar amp with 5-inch speaker
Runs on battery or AC power (adapter supplied) and includes carry strap
i-CUBE LINK jack provides simple audio interfacing with Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (interface cable included)
8 COSM guitar amp models including JC-120 and a special mic preamp model
8 DSP effects: chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and separate Delay/Reverb
Built-in chromatic tuner
Recording/Headphones output and stereo Auxiliary input for CD players, etc.

The sound quality of this small amp is just like the regular Cube Series. A small amp that packs the punch!

A Curvy Girl’s Guide To Finding The Right Lingerie

I do not attribute myself as curvy but I am a bit flabby on the wrong places. So, it is a bit disheartening for me to wear my favorite lingeries when I used to be slim and trim.

My body went through a lot of changes over the years. It is not very easy to find the right lingerie to sleep in if you do not know how and what complement’s your body shape.

Below is an infographic on a curvy girl’s guide to find the right lingerie. Even plus sized ladies can find this very informative when buying their lingeries.

Taking the Opportunity

They said, “Opportunity knocks only once.” In my case, it had knocked many times before but I kept mum about opening the door. I am either scared or I just don’t have faith as big as a mountain. Either way, I have let many opportunities pass only to regret later in my life.

There are opportunities that I have gladly accepted but I stirred my boat wrongly. I didn’t give much thought about them and was half-heartedly committing only because they became more of an obligation than something I could enjoy with.

I even prayed for opportunities to come my way. I answered some but then again, I was not putting my effort. I was rushing. I was impatient. I wanted to see results right away.

This time, the opportunity came when I least expected it. My friend actually approached me to review the products she is offering because I am a blogger and I do product reviews as well. So I said yes. Then I asked questions about the products, she gave me information about them and next thing I know it, I am a part of her team. Yes. It was a lengthy conversation about beauty and skin care products that got me hooked and I am glad that I did.

The thing is, I am a very skeptical person. I am very analytical, and I must understand every detail of something before I can put my personal stamp on it. In this case, I have heard of the brand before. I was still young when I heard of it. And because then, the brand seemed so elusive and exclusive, I didn’t give much thought about it. Until I became a part of the same brand I tried avoiding. Again, I am glad I signed up. I am still learning the ropes because I am just 3 weeks old in the company but I know one day, I can become a leader here. I would love that!

You see, opportunities like this one comes rarely in your lifetime. You either let it pass or you grab it by the horns. I have let this pass before and it came back to me unexpectedly. I did pray for God’s guidance and providence to lead me to a good opportunity where I can see myself, my family, my friends, and my new found teammates grow. And if there’s one thing I have learned about this whole process is to take the opportunities that come your ways as blessings. Not everyone has been given that honor to respond to a calling, no matter what that is.

It’s too early to say what will happen. I am just being very hopeful and positive. I feel I deserve this break after what I have been through. I am also praying that I will continue to enjoy this new endeavor for a long, long time.

Thanks to Nu Skin for giving me something to hope for. I pray that all my dreams will come true with your help.

The road to success is still long, and far. But I know someday, I will surely get there.

Why Traveling Is Not Only For The Rich

Many people think that traveling is a lucrative activity that only the rich, famous, and those who can afford can take it. Contrary to that belief, traveling is for everyone who loves to venture out in the open, to see new places, meet the locals, experience other cultures, visit interesting attractions, taste unique local cuisines, and build memories that will last a lifetime.

Why are people too aloof about the travel scene? What puts them off? Could it be the numerous documents to secure and buy like the super visa insurance if you’re traveling abroad? Perhaps, the cost of traveling scares people away from viewing the activity in a different light. I asked that before I got bitten by the travel bug.  I used to think that it is something I could not achieve in my lifetime but I was wrong.  We all could enjoy a little bit of travel even locally, and that too will involve costs.

So, why is traveling for everyone regardless of your income level?

Pay less or more depending on your budget

All travels, no matter how simple they are, will still amount to something. That is a constant factor that everyone who wishes to travel in the future take into consideration. And for the seasoned travelers, sticking to a budget is one of the keys to enjoy an affordable trip without burning a hole in your bank account.

There may be costs involved but it all depends on how you plan your travel and where you want to go. Other than that, cost is just one of the aspects people have to consider and accept about traveling.

It’s all in the mindset

Yes, some people think that traveling is only for the rich people because they can afford it. Wrong. That is certainly not the case. In fact, traveling is for everyone who wish to take the adventure and experience the bliss of being in a different place at least once in a while. It’s not always about the money when you travel. There are many ways you can travel without having to shell out a fortune. You can stay with friends or relatives in a different place to get free accommodation. You can find perfect deals to suit your budget when you book early or as a group. Tap the tips and tricks of the travel trade to save a lot for the travel of your dreams. You can joy free walking tours to save on sightseeing cost. There are many creative ways to save on cost. Check the web for many forums and resources from traveling folks and read their tips to save on a trip.

Traveling is not only taking flights to another destination

Another misconception about traveling is that people think that it is only when you’re actually flying to a different destination. Traveling is not just booking a flight ticket, buying it, and showing up in the airport to take the flight on the day of your trip. Traveling is more than the type of transportation you will take. It can be driving to the next province, state, or county in your own country. It can be taking a weekend trip to the nearest beach resort. It can also be visiting friends or relatives who live in another part of the town or staying with those you know who live overseas. Traveling is all about moving out and about to wonderful places to unwind and make wonderful memories.

I travel even if my budget is tight. I just stay in cheaper hotels or visit relatives and friends in another country to save on accommodation. You see, I am not rich. I don’t have millions in my bank account but I try to make a point to save enough to finance a short trip somewhere. I save here and there for a yearly travel because the memories you make are those that money can’t buy.

The travel bug has bitten me and it is one bite that I don’t mind.

Take Care Of Your Guitar’s Strings

Having a guitar is a beautiful thing. I don’t play one but I love listening to people strumming the guitar and producing melodies that are very pleasant to hear.

For guitarists, having a guitar is not just for playing. There are important things to consider when owning one and this is taking care of your guitar. A regular fine-tuning is required, cleaning and maintenance so it will produce quality and full sound.

One way of taking care of your guitar is also regularly checking its strings. Re-stringing is vital in making your guitar keep its top performance in terms of quality sound and whole playability. A good string must be considered for the aria guitars at guitarcenter.com and other strings that is compatible with the type of guitar you have. If you see the strings fraying, loose or produces funny sound, it is time to re-string.

In case you are planning to buy one or already have a guitar, please ensure that taking care of the strings is also a part of your regular routine to check the condition of your musical instrument.
